Lab 10

The main difference between Hartley and Shannon's models is that Hartley takes the actual information and doesn't focus at all on probability or averages. Shannon takes probabilities and is able to better predict the future. Hartley uses logarithms to figure out the information which does not as accurately make predictions.

Lab 9

Lab 9 introduced me to a more advanced Microsoft Excel. The lab taught us how to more easily find out a linear regression line than if to do it by hand or even a graphing calculator. Because i have been doing linear and other sorts of regressions, the lab didn't teach me anything that i already didnt know about regression lines. But i am glad that i now know how to do it on Excel because i have always had trouble using Excel for other classes' homework. I also now know the basics of excel pretty well so that i could learn more by myself such as some other functions (Standard deviation, etc...) other than the ones we used.

As for data analysis and inductive modeling, like i said before, i have taken a few statistics courses in high school and this lab was just a review of what i already knew just i used excel instead of the STAT and LinReg buttons on the TI-83 calculator.
